Gifts From Allah Through Others - A Poetic Expression

Many times we receive messages in ways we would have never guessed.

These messages are sent only for us to do our best.

They could be sent through:

A symbol,

A person,

Or a book,

At first, they may seem blurry, but it’s up to us to wipe our eyes and take a look.

Once we finally realize what it is

It will connect us to pieces of our destiny that will help us live.

Gifts From Allah Through Others - A Short Story

There was a young man who needed a sign.

He needed a sign that he was walking on the path destined for him.

He pondered and studied, wondered, and questioned.

Still, he was left quite unsure.

The young man was dedicated to visiting his local masjid.

Little did he know he would have an experience that would change his life forever.

After Jummah the young man loved to indulge in conversation with the Muslim men who inspired him.

He asked “How did you guys know it was time?”, the man replied, “When it’s your time you won’t question it, you’ll just know”.

With inspiration and excitement, the young man continues to laugh, greet salaams, and indulge in conversation.

He then asks the man, “wow, mash’Allah I love that wrap, where’d you buy it?”

Without even answering the question the man calmly said, “Here, it’s yours”.

In disbelief, the young man pleaded for the man to keep it, but he wouldn’t accept no for an answer.

After the next Jummah prayer, the men met once again.

With pure intentions(no expectations) the young man asked the man “wow, where did you get those prayer beads? They are beautiful!”.

Without answering his question the man calmly said: “Here, take them”.

In complete disbelief, the young man walked away.

After a moment he returned and took the prayer beads home.

The young man returned to Jummah prayer the next week and was met with a pleasant surprise.

He saw his grandfather sitting among the elders in the masjid talking before prayer.

He walks in, and his grandfather noticed him. His grandfather’s face lit up as he introduced him to the elders.

After the prayer was over, the young man asked his grandfather, “Grandfather, how do you know when it’s time? How did you know?”.

He replied to the young man, “Grandson, I didn’t find Islam, Islam found me”.

The young man took a moment to ponder on that powerful statement.

His grandfather added, “Islam is a personal journey and more about intentions than anything. A man can know all the religious laws and rules but if his intentions are bad, his soul could be black. On the other hand, a man cannot know much at all and if he tries his best and heart is pure, he is rewarded by Allah”.

The grandfather then created a book of foundational Islamic information and said: “Grandson, this is for you. Please take the time to learn the basics, step by step. You’ll become closer to Allah”.

The young man eventually found his way to Islam.

It wasn’t until later that he realized, for nearly a whole month after Jummah, he received a gift from Allah through someone used as a vessel.

Each gift held significance in the development and experience of the young man.
