“The Daily Motivation for the Young Black Male is filled with beautifully written words that instill in Black boys the confidence to glow with dignity and embrace the beauty in their identity. The words sink deeply! Reading it as an adult, there were many moments in which I was reminded to be a pioneer and live a purposeful life. I really love the poems because they are written in a way that takes away all barriers and generates a direct connection between the author and the young Black boy that will be reading it. They can see in the author a brother who hears them and motivates them to reach absolute excellence in all capacities of life. And of course, I loved every bit of “Mm mm … That Black Girl” and “The Mother Of Humanity” which praise Black Womanhood and teach our Black boys to be Kings to the Queens in their lives. Definitely gifting it on to a special Black boy!”

“ I read Asad’s book cover to cover. My favorite was the “Ghetto Boy” and “Get off that Block” poem. Happy Asad is working so much to help shape our young princes into future Kings”

Words of gravity. This is the language that young boys need to hear. Messages that tell them to stand their ground. Messages that tell them they are fearless and to fear nothing. The poem that resonated with me the most was the inner me. It is simply a higher level of self that most people struggle to reach. But recognizing the importance of reaching this level is what makes everything in life worth it. This book definitely has a little something for everyone. I plan on sharing this read with my nieces and nephews so that they may take a message or two into their teenage lives.
